South Korea: Jeju Air flight crashes at Muan airport

A Jeju Air flight, 7C2216, veered off the runway and crashed while landing in South Korea. The accident occurred on Sunday as the Boeing 737-8AS (Registration HL8088) arrived at Muan International Airport from Bangkok, Thailand.

According to Yonhap news agency, the aircraft was carrying 175 passengers and six flight attendants when it crashed.

Flight 7C8135

HL8088 is the same aircraft that was involved in an emergency on December 27th. Jeju Air flight 7C8135, operated by a Boeing 737-800, was conducting a scheduled service from Jeju International Airport (CJU) to Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX).

The aircraft involved is a 15-year-old Boeing 737-8AS (Registration HL8088) operated by Jeju Air.

Casualties and Rescue Efforts

Preliminary reports indicate that 23 people have suffered injuries, with rescue operations currently underway. The injured include both passengers and crew members, though the extent of their injuries is yet to be confirmed. Emergency response teams are actively working to assist those affected and secure the area.
