Helicopter Crashes in Hudson River Between New York and New Jersey

A Bell 206L-4 LongRanger IV helicopter has crashed into the Hudson River, near the border of New York and New Jersey, earlier today. The helicopter, registered as N216MH, was tracked by our ADS-B system, which recorded its last position at 19:14:50 UTC, showing the helicopter descending rapidly at a rate of -3,456 feet per minute.

Six people – including three children – are dead after a passenger helicopter crashed into the Hudson River, said New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

The last recorded altitude was 425 feet, and the final coordinates were 40.7301, -74.0264, placing the crash site in the river just off the coast near Hoboken, New Jersey. The aircraft was transmitting squawk code 1200, the standard VFR (Visual Flight Rules) transponder code in the United States.
